Vans Warped Tour at Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, MD – July 24, 2012

Photographs and Review by Christa Settle

Vans Warped Tour is one of the most popular alternative rock tours that brings tons of bands and fans together each summer. The tour ran from June 16th to August 5th this year. We caught the tour on July 24th at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, which brought one of the headlining bands, All Time Low, back to their home state. The crowd was so pumped to welcome the Baltimore native band back to their home. And of course, many bras were thrown onto the Kia Rio Stage and hung on Jack’s mic stand.

All Time Low setlist:

  1. Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don’t)
  2. Lost In Stereo
  3. Heroes
  4. Time-Bomb
  5. The Reckless and The Brave
  6. Jasey Rae
  7. Weightless
  8. Dear Maria, Count Me In

I was honored to be invited to shoot video and photo from on stage during Taking Back Sunday’s acoustic set on the Digitech Stage, which was a pretty awesome experience. The stage was small, but drew a huge crowd of excited fans.

Taking Back Sunday Acoustic setlist:

  1. Best Places to Be a Mom
  2. Sad Savior
  3. Yer So Bad (Tom Petty Cover)
  4. MakeDamnSure

My first band of the day was We Are The In Crowd, a pop punk band from Poughkeepsie, New York.  They first toured with Warped Tour in 2010, and this year being their second time on their tour. They thanked the huge crowd that came to see them perform this year, saying it was a huge difference from the last time they were at Merriweather with the tour in 2010 when they had about 10-15 fans at their performance. They bring so much energy to the stage, especially Taylor Jardine, who practically kicked my lens while I was shooting video.

We Are The In Crowd setlist:

  1. Rumor Mill
  2. Never Be What You Want
  3. Exits and Entrances
  4. For The Win
  5. The Worst Thing About Me
  6. Kiss Me Again
  7. Lights Out
  8. Both Sides of the Story

Pierce the Veil, a post-hardcore band from San Diego, California, put on a rocking hardcore performance on the Kia Rio Stage full of head banging, guitar swinging and great music.

Pierce The Veil setlist:

  1. Besitos
  2. The Boy Who Could Fly
  3. Bulletproof Love
  4. King For A Day (with Kellin Quinn)
  5. Yeah Boy and Doll Face
  6. Caraphernelia

My last band of the day was Taking Back Sunday on the Kia Soul Stage. And what a great set to end my day of shooting Warped Tour!

Taking Back Sunday setlist:

  1. El Paso
  2. Error: Operator
  3. Timberwolves at New Jersey
  4. Liar (It Takes One to Know One)
  5. What’s It Feel Like to Be a Ghost?
  6. A Decade Under the Influence
  7. You’re So Last Summer
  8. Faith (When I Let You Down)
  9. Cute Without the “E” (Cut from the Team)
  10. MakeDamnSure

Vans Warped Tour had an amazing line up of artists, a great group of fans attending, lots a nice freebies, and a grand time had by all. Warped never disappoints and this year is a great example of why the tour is so popular.
